My graphic design background is part of everything I do, and has a huge impact on what I like and the art I create.
One of my strongest influences has always been the illustrations of Hergé, as epitomised in his Adventures of Tintin story books. As a kid I loved the stories for their adventure, and as an adult I also came to love them for the clean simplicity of the lines and colours.
As a petrol head, I especially like his depictions of vehicles, and it is these that have inspired my series of graphic illustrations of classic sports cars, rendered in a crisp and bold style reminiscent of those Tintin stories, with the addition of a frame, caption and ‘sound’ for the full graphic novel effect!
My print is a 1969 Lamborghini Miura as seen in the fabulous opening sequence of The Italian Job, and I have added what seems like a most appropriate line from 'Miles is a cigarette' by Chris Rea.
Perfect for any fan of cars, Hergé, Tintin an ideal for brightening up any space!
